Irmo Wind Bands
The Irmo Wind Bands include both the Symphonic Band and Symphonic Winds.
Conducted by Head Director of Bands, Hannah Redd, the Irmo Symphonic Winds are the premier ensemble of the school and are comprised of the top wind players of the band program. Students are placed in this ensemble based on an audition at the end of the previous academic year. This ensemble consistently places students in the SCBDA Region and Allstate Bands.
Irmo Marching Band
Under the direction of Hannah Redd and Michael Calamas, the Irmo High School Marching Band is the primary athletic band at IHS. This ensemble has a rich history including many impressive performances at BOA Grand Nationals during the 90's and early 2000's. Read more about the marching bands history here.
Irmo Percussion Studio
Under the direction of Michael Calamas, the Assistant Director of Bands, The Irmo Percussion studio includes two ensembles, the classical percusison ensemble and the world percussion ensemble.
The classical percussion ensemble is a competitive group that meets 2 to 3 times per week. The group has traveled around the state of South Carolina in CWEA circuits and at the SCPAS Day of Percussion.
Irmo Winter Guard
The Winter Guard at Irmo is a competitive color guard that has experience traveling the state for competition under the CWEA and SCBDA circuits.
